The Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament

The Sir Garry Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament takes place in Barbados annually from the first Friday in July for three weeks. The tournament is 40 overs duration played under the rules governing 40 overs cricket.

The tournament attracts schools from most test playig cricket countries but with the bulk of schools coming from the UK. It is our policy not to invite more than six schools from the UK. The tournament is always well subscribed with as manyas 24 teams taking part. When we reach that number then we split the teams into four leagues of six with semifinal, playoffs for minor places and then the final. On the day after the final a festival game is played between the Caribbean teams and a combined side from the UK.

The tournament has now been sanctioned by the West Indies Cricket Board and having achieved that status there is more and more interest from overseas team especially in South America and Africa.

A masters coaching class is given by some of Barbados' and West Indies greats like Sir Everton Weekes, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir Wes Hall, Charlie Griffith, Seymour Nurse and Joel Garner.
