The Charlie Griffith Prep School cricket tournament is the newest of the Cricket tournaments beginning in July 2012. The tournament which was conceptualised by Don Gooding was created to act as a prelude to the Under 19 Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools cricket competition, which is also the brainchild of Gooding.
There are three matches per day for five playing days with the winners being declared from the team with the highest number of points. If there is a tie at the top of the league then there will be a play off.Matches will start at 10 a.m, 1:30p.m. and 5:00p.m with each team being given an opportunity to play under lights. We will be using the tape ball for matches being played under light.
There will also be coaching sessions included for teams and we have been fortunate to secure the services of Sherwyn Campbell for batting and Ezra Moseley for bowling.
See what one our teams had to say about the 2012 tournament
" The inauguaral U13 Charlie Griffith International Prep School Cricket Tournament in 2012 was a hugely enjoyable event that the cricketers from Cothill House in Oxfordshire will never forget. On the ball sports did a fantastic job in every sense in organising as series of very competitive matches in a wonderful setting and their ability to understand the exact requirements of a tour party of U13 cricketers based on many years of experience made the Barbados tour an unforgettable trip. Every one of our boys who played in the Tournament said it was the highlight of their school career. I thoroughly reccommend this event to all Prep School Directors of Sport!"
